The children were magnificent in their efforts to help us complete the building and decoration of a library and computer room. The shelving is now being installed and we have many boxes of books ready to be displayed and for the children to read.
We were very fortunate to have funding from The Rotary Club of Horbury and Ossett Phoenix to enable us to partition off one end of the library and make a secure room for the installation of desks and computers. This will be an excellent addition to our teaching aids allowing the children direct contact with the big wide world. The Library. We sent out 10 boxes of books out to Kenya via DHL and covered and catalogued them
The original shelves were not moveable so they were reduced and fitted with wheels. The library can now be used for meetings and community events when it rains.
2017 The library received 10 boxes of adult and children's books donated by Horbury and Ossett Rotary club and ST. Peter's Infant Primary and Junior School Birstall.
Rotary donated £600 for postage.
Three teachers including Harrison, the headmaster, went to Nairobi, where 'Start a library 'a Kenyan charity gave them instructions on how to catalogue a library and organise a lending facility. The library now has over 2500 books in it.
Before the school broke for the long CHristmas holidays a wifi mast was built out side the library so this term the school has fast broadband.
